![]() Course History and Description: The Adare Golf Club, an 18-hole championship course on the 840 acre estate of Adare Manor opened in 1995. This was the last major course designed by the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr. This majestic design has gained international acclaim as one of his finest creations. The Adare Golf Course measures 7,125 yards and uses 230 acres of lush countryside. The exquisite parkland atmosphere of the demesne has been preserved with the course set amid magnificent mature trees. The course contains many aquatic features including a 14 acre man made lake anchoring the front nine. The River Maigue meanders through the 18 holes creating a sense of beauty and challenge, particularly on the 11th Par 3 and the 18th par 5 finishing hole. Having designed 45 of the top 100 golf courses worldwide, Mr. Jones judged the 18th hole to be “possibly the best par 5 in the world”. The Adare Golf Course hosted the JP McManus Charity Golf Tournament which saw the top 58 golfers of the world - including Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Colin Montgomerie - play the course in July 2005. The eventual winner was Padraig Harrington, who posted a course record 63, finishing 14 under par for the tournament. Adare has staged the AIB Irish Seniors Open, held here for three consecutive years, most recently in 2004, also the Irish PGA in 2003, won by Paul McGinley. Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort: The Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort in County Limerick, Ireland, is one of Ireland's leading 5-star castle properties and the ultimate vacation destination. It was voted the Number One European Resort by the Condé Nast Traveler Magazine's "2002 Readers Choice Awards."
