Course History and Description:
Burhill Golf Club is set in beautiful Surrey parkland. The clubhouse, a luxurious Georgian Mansion, is steeped in history and dates back to 1726. The Golf Club was established in 1907 by the Guinness family.

The Old Course:
Designed by Willie Park, known by his peers and the first true genius of golf course architecture, the Old Course was opened in 1907. At 6479 yards, this par 70 is not long, but is a great challenge, whatever your handicap. A well thought out game is required to beat the course, particularly the par 4, 4th hole, where a poorly placed drive leaves no shot to the green, and the par 5, 14th, where accuracy from the tee is paramount. The Old Course has some of the trickiest greens in Surrey. With many hidden slopes and undulations, local knowledge is a definite advantage.

The mature trees that line the fairways (including Eucalyptus, which fills the air during the warmer months) are home to some interesting features. Between the 14th and 15th fairways lies ‘Dick Turpin’s Cottage’. This cottage was previously an alehouse, and some say it was used as a hideout by the legendary highwayman. The ‘Kings House’ sits to the right of the 10th hole. This building was presented to King George V in 1935 and was later occupied by Lord Trenchard.

The Clubhouse:
Dating back to 1726, Burhill’s elegant mansion clubhouse has an intriguing history. Catherine Duchess of Wellington and Barnes Wallis, the inventor of the famous ‘Bouncing Bomb' are just two of history’s characters associated with the building. In May 2001, the clubhouse re-opened after a major refurbishment and extension program. The designers have combined their modern influences with antique furnishings and rich fabrics to create a completely unique environment.
The Captains Bar and Orangery are the hub of the clubhouse, offering a relaxed atmosphere for post round refreshments and delectable dining. The sumptuously furnished Iveagh Lounge and Honours Bar provides a peaceful setting to rest and enjoy the views of the New Course. The first floor accommodates the private dining suites, the Barnes Wallis Suite and Wellington Room.
