Course History:
Located in the heart of the Pinehurst area golf region, Little River Golf Resort is one of the area's most challenging, yet friendly golf courses. A Golf Digest "Award Winner," Little River has hosted numerous professional and amateur events.

Little River is one of the North Carolina’s premier golf resorts. Already a landmark in the world of equestrian sports, Little River has now become a legend among world-class golf resorts. Sculptured from 450 acres of rolling hills and featuring nearly 200-foot elevation changes, Little River Golf Resort's course offers narrow rivers and thick forests.

Renowned golf course architect, Dan Maples, established Little River golf resort in 1996. Maples was born only a few miles from the waters of the Little River, and has brought a dedication to this course that no other architect could. His achievement is both a gift to the golf resort community where he grew up and a challenging experience for golfers everywhere.

Overnight accommodations in our new Golf Villas are available, and include living/dining room area with fully furnished kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 4 queen beds, 2 full baths, private patio, daily maid service and high-speed Internet access. Little River Golf Resort is minutes away from the Village of Pinehurst and the Pinehurst Resort. Little River offers personalized packages to meet your needs with over 30 area courses to choose from.

Notable Hole Descriptions:
Little River Golf Course ~ Hole 5 (Par 4): The number one handicap rating of the 415-yard par 4 is well deserved. The hole plays slightly uphill and requires a solid tree shot which must avoid the fairway bunkers on the right and on the left. A good drive leaves most players with a mid to long iron second shot to a two level green guarded by marsh on the left and behind. Par is the goal here but rest assured that you are far from alone if you make more than a four.
Pro's Tip: Favor the left side of the fairway for the best angle to attack the flag.

Little River Golf Course ~ Hole 6 (Par 5): Many consider this scenic par 5 (451 yards) to be the signature hole at Little River. The hole cuts a swath through a large area of wetlands and requires accuracy off the tee and on the second shot to set up a short iron third shot to the green. A deft touch with the putter is required to negotiate the three-level green successfully.
Pro's Tip: Aim your second shot just left of the fairway bunker on the right.

Little River Golf Course ~ Hole 17 (Par 5): More than 75 feet of elevation change characterize this downhill 535-yard par 5. Players must first carry the pond off the tee and are then faced with a decision of trying to carry the second shot over a waste area towards the green or lay up short of the waste area. There are many different ways to play #17 successfully and some local knowledge is definitely an advantage on this hole.
Pro's Tip: Ride up and look before your second shot. Whether you decide to go for the green or lay up, don't be long.

Little River Golf Course ~ Hole 18 (Par 4): A Fabulous finishing hole, one of the best around! The tee shot on the uphill 394-yard eighteenth must avoid the large fairway bunker and the wetlands on the right. The large green features a steep uphill slope in the center section and is guarded on the right by sand. If your ball is past the hole you will be faced with a difficult up and down or a tough two put for par. A fantastic finish to and exciting round of golf!

Pro's Tip: You must stay below the hole on the green. Head straight for the Pro Shop to make another tee time. You'll have to try it again!
