![]() ![]() Course History: Former President Bill Clinton, a resident of neighboring Chappaqua, was on hand to cut the ribbon when Hudson Hills Golf Course, designed by Mark Mungeam, celebrated its grand opening in May 2004. Hudson Hills is a championship golf course that takes full advantage of its setting in the Hudson River Valley. Perched atop the first tee, golfers are treated to a beautiful vista, with nearly one third of the golf course in view. But don’t be too distracted by the beauty of this hilly countryside, because strategically placed golf shots are paramount to mastering Hudson Hills. Golfers can choose to play from any of the four sets of tees, measuring from 5,100 yards to nearly 7,000 yards, in order to create a golf experience that matches their unique skill level and playing style. Regardless of skill level, Hudson Hills rewards players who favor strategy over sheer distance. Water hazards come into play on many of the golf holes and environmentally protected lands line the track reinforcing the importance of club selection and accuracy in achieving textbook pars. Hudson Hills Golf Course, managed by Billy Casper Golf, entertains golfers with beauty and challenge, and gives them the unique opportunity to use every club in the bag. These qualities, combined with superior golf course maintenance and customer service, add up to an exceptionally satisfying golf experience. The Lookout Grill welcomes golfers to enjoy a relaxing meal or refreshing beverage overlooking the Hudson Hills Golf Course. Golf fare is served for both lunch and dinner in the Grill and a drive-up snack bar is open for golfers needing to grab a bite to eat between nines. Course Description: The trademark par-5, 515-yard 2nd hole features a wetland that cuts diagonally across the hole from right to left off the tee, but drives to the right will carom back into the fairway off a natural-grass bank. From there the fairway winds its way down to a green with wetlands nipping in from the right and a rock embankment behind. It's a thrilling risk-reward hole for big hitters and a fun three-shot hole for everyone else. The short 6th measures 130 yards but illustrates the interest course designer Mark Mungeam created on the putting surfaces at Hudson Hills. A pond guards the left side of this par 3, and a swale runs through the center of the green. If you bail out away from the pond, you'll have a roller coaster two-putt. But if you challenge the water and succeed, you'll earn a flat putt for a birdie chance. The par-4 13th has emerged as one of the player's favorites. Measuring more than 450 yards, it plays from an elevated tee and drops about 50 feet to the fairway below. An angled bunker in the left landing zone marks the strategy: Cozy up to it, or clear it, and the green - protected by a deep bunker front right - opens up to the approach shot. Hudson Hills closes really strong. The two finishing holes are both par-4s that play 450 from the back tees. Seventeen is very challenging; uphill all the way. So be prepared for a tough finish.
